Lesson 1: Setting up your first student webpage
First of all, login to your studio website
by clicking on the link in the email we sent you.
Once you have entered your
password, you'll be taken to your homepage. This is the page that
allows you to run your entire studio - whether your students have their own webpages or not. Only you will be able to see the information on this page.
So you wouldn't be confronted with a
completely empty website, we have already taken the liberty of giving a student
their very own webpage at your site: "Jack Sprat".
Of course, you don't teach a "Jack Sprat",
so the first thing you'll need to change those name and details to those of one
of your real students. Then you can really start to have fun with all of this.
Step 1: Turning "Jack Sprat" into
one of your real students
Select Jack Sprat's name from the dropdown
menu that is on the top right of your screen:

This will take you to his Student
Management page - a page that gives you a summary of everything you could ever
want to know about this student.
To change his name, scroll down to the
"Contact Details" heading, and click the "Edit Student's information" link.

Type in the student's name, together with
the student's phone number, address and email address (if you know them - if you
don't, you can always put them in later).
Then click the "Update Contact details"
button. The main page will reload, and you will see that your student's name is
now at the top of the screen instead of "Jack Sprat". Much better.
Step 2: Creating a username and
password for that student (so that they can login at home)
On that same Student Management page, look
for the heading that says "PracticePage Settings". You can choose a username and
password for the student by clicking on the "Change Username" and "Change
Password" links:

They can now log in to their own webpage
at home by going to
www.theirusername.practicepage.com and entering their password. So if their
username were "sallyroberts" then they would go to
www.sallyroberts.practicepage.com.
What's next?
We'll look at how to add your other students later, but now that you have a
student with a webpage, you should really make them welcome. The next lesson
shows you how to send a "welcome" message.
Oooh! Show me how to
send a message!
